The Dentatus Profin PDX is one of our favourite products and we are delighted to finally have them available on the website. It might seem like a bit of a luxury product bbut the more you use it the more essential you begin to see it.
In essence the Profin is a premium reciprocating handpiece that uses a short 1.2,, stroke to offer a smooth controlled movement with minimal heat generation.
The Profin system is very clever and allows inserts to locked into a particular angle and then repositioned at will. The Profin can also be used without locking the angle to allow some free movement.
We felt the most economical way for us to offer the Profin on our site was to sell the handpiece and introductory kits separately. This mean you can easily start with either the lamineer or IPR tips and add the other range should you wish in the future.
The Profin has two distinct applications
1) Lamineer tips (sold seperately)
These autoclavable tips are use for composite and enamel finishing and polishing (and can also be used for vertical crown margin refinement).
Please note the Lamineer tips should be run between 5000 and 10,000 (max) rpm. While the profin can be used on all E-Type motors they are best suited to a micromotor. If you plan to use one on a standard air motor please ensure you are able to reduce the speed (normally around 20,000 rpm) with the speed dial that some air motors have.
2) Orthodontic IPR (sold seperately)
The Profin blades offer an extraordinary solution to the issue of fast and accurate interproximal reduction during orthodontic treatment. The blades are double sided with set widths of 0.1mm to 0.5mm and can be passed between contact points to ensure accurate, safe and efficient reduction.
Please note that in especially tight contact a proximal saw may still need to be used before introducing the Profin blade to allow the tool to engage.
Please note the Orthodontic IPR tips should be run between 8000 and 10,000 (max) rpm. While the profin can be used on all E-Type motors they are best suited to a micromotor. If you plan to use one on a standard air motor please ensure you are able to reduce the speed (normally around 20,000 rpm) with the speed dial that some air motors have.
