The carbide burs hold some significant advantages over transitional steel rosehead burs. Firstly the bur has a narrow shank allowing better visual access to the cutting tip, Second the bur cuts the carious dentine tissue very cleanly and efficiently, finally the burs are suitable for autoclaving and can be reused.
We use this larger diameter bur for gross caries removal.
